Last week was Thanksgiving which means it’s almost over. Now society’s attention immediately turns to Christmas. The Christmas season is a whirlwind, isn’t it? The shopping lists, the twinkling lights, the family gatherings, and the endless stream of events fill our calendars and our minds. But in the midst of the excitement, it’s easy to lose sight of the heart of this celebration: Jesus.

Have you ever paused to ask yourself, “Am I ready for Christmas—not just the parties and presents, but for what it truly means?” Christmas is the celebration of God stepping into our world, not as a ruler of mighty armies but as a baby bringing hope and redemption. It’s the moment that forever changed history.

The irony is that we often spend more time preparing for the festivities than reflecting on the reason for them. Think about how much energy goes into finding the perfect gift or decorating the house. Yet how much time do we spend with the One we’re celebrating?

Luke 2:11 reminds us that the true gift of Christmas is Jesus, the Messiah who came for us all. “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord” (Luke 2:11)

That doesn’t mean the traditions are wrong. They can be beautiful expressions of love and joy. But what if we intentionally set aside time to focus on Jesus this season? Read the Christmas story with your family, reflect on His birth, and thank Him for coming to save us.

Christmas is an invitation to pause, to wonder, and to worship. It’s about making room in your heart for Jesus, not just in December, but every day. Are you ready to celebrate the Savior who came to bring you life and hope?

This year, as you check items off your to-do list, add one more: Prepare your heart. That’s the gift Jesus desires most.
