Faith means moving forward, even when the path ahead makes no sense. Obedience is often the true test of faith, and Noah’s story reminds us of this. Imagine being told to prepare for something you’ve never seen, in a way no one around you understands. That’s exactly what God asked Noah to do.

Hebrews 11:7 says, “By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family”

Before the flood, the world had never experienced rain as we know it. Noah had no reference point for the task God assigned him. Yet, when God said, “Build an ark,” Noah obeyed. He didn’t argue. He didn’t wait for confirmation. He acted in faith, even when he couldn’t figure it out.

This kind of obedience can feel impossible for us. We like to analyze, strategize, and predict outcomes before we take a step. But God often calls us to act first and trust that He’ll reveal the rest as we move forward. Faith says, “I’ll obey even when it doesn’t add up.” Noah’s obedience was about trusting the character of God. He believed that if God said it, it would happen, no matter how improbable it seemed. His faith saved his family and preserved humanity.

Well known Scottish theologian Sinclair Ferguson once said, “Be obedient even when you don’t know where obedience may lead you.”

What is God asking you to do that doesn’t make sense right now? Maybe it’s forgiving someone who hurt you deeply, giving generously when resources are tight, or stepping into a role you don’t feel prepared for. Whatever it is, remember Noah’s example. Faith isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about trusting the One who does.

Today, let go of the need to figure everything out. Obey with confidence, knowing that God’s plans are always better than your understanding. When you trust Him, the results are in His hands, not yours, and that’s the best place for them to be.
