If you are a Christ-Follower, you know how much prayer benefits our lives. But have you ever thought about how God feels when we pray?
I imagine God would say something like this: “It’s great hearing from you today. You just made my day. As hectic as your life may be, you still found time for Me. It moves My heart.” If thinking about God responding to our prayer in this way doesn’t make you want to pray, I don’t know what will.
Remember to begin each day with a declaration of thanksgiving and praise. We can look toward the book of Psalms for some beautiful examples.
One of those is Psalm 34. “I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises. Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness; let us exalt his name together. I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!” (Psalm 34:1,3,4,8)
If you need help knowing what to pray, these prayers serve as great illustrations of what the attitude of our hearts should be.
Also, ask the Holy Spirit to help you pray. Tell him that you trust Him to help you touch Father God’s heart. The Holy Spirit is within us to guide us, lead us, and equip us in every way. We can rely on Him to help us with anything we need, including praying to the Father.
Romans 8:26 says, “The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.” (NLT)
At the end of the day, all that matters is that you show up and spend time with God. That’s what He truly desires. He wants you to enjoy being in His presence. He wants to develop His relationship with you and enjoy you for who you are. That is the beauty of our faith. We have a God that longs and desires to know us, love us, and be a part of our lives.
Will you show up for God today? God loves to hear you pray!
