What’s absolutely amazing about our faith is that it’s all centered on love. Everything about God, His plans for the world, and our creation all boils down to love. After all, the Bible tells us that God IS love, so it makes sense, doesn’t it?
Augustine once said, “God loves each of us as if there were only one of us.”
God’s love is not stagnant or inactive. In fact, it’s the complete opposite. God’s love is alive and powerful, transforming every life it touches. For us to experience that same transformation, all we need to do is accept His love. It’s a free gift from Him that He’s willing and eager to pour over us. But He doesn’t force it upon us: we must accept it of our own free will.
1 John 3:1 says, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him” (NIV). This verse reveals a beautiful and remarkable truth: through our personal relationship with God, we know Him. He is not a distant God, watching our lives play out from His throne in heaven. He walks beside us, desiring to be an intimate part of our everyday lives.
That makes sense because God created us from an overflow of His love. Our whole purpose is to love and be loved by Him. That’s why we call Him Father and see us as His children. That’s the kind of relationship with Him that’s available to us. That’s the kind of love that made God give us everything through the sacrifice of His only Son Jesus. He loves us so much that He would hold nothing back from us, not even Jesus Himself.
C.S. Lewis said, “God loves us NOT because we’re lovable, because He is love. Not because He needs to receive, because He delights to give.”
Walk and live in His love today. Let your life become completely saturated by His love so we can share it with the entire world. Let’s fully embrace it and every blessing it brings us.
