God has given us beautiful minds with the capacity to dream. This gift of being able to envision things is a blessing and deeply reflects God’s own nature. How so? Just consider the act of creation for a moment. Before God created the world and everything in it, He had to envision it. He had to dream it up! We, and the world we live in, only exist because God first dreamt it all up! So, for us, dreaming thing is part of what it means to be created in the image of God.
Pastor and author Mark Batterson wrote in his book “Chase the Lion”, “Your dreams should be so big that without God, they are impossible to achieve.”
To ever make our dreams a reality, though, our prayer life should be bigger than our dreams. We can accomplish nothing good and meaningful in this world apart from God. Prayer is the discipline that connects us with God and His power. When we bring our dreams into our prayers, God equips us with the power, wisdom, and patience to see them through to fruition.
God wants to give us the desires of our hearts. All is that we “delight ourselves” in Him. But what does that mean?
Psalm 37:4 reads, “Take delight in the LORD, and He will give you your heart’s desires.” Taking delight in the Lord means that we enjoy the time we spend with Him. We are eager for His love, wisdom, and companionship. When we delight in the Lord, we see Him as our Father, our God, and our friend. Our relationship with Him is the number one focus and priority of our lives, and we strive to please Him in everything we do every single day.
Take delight in the Lord and commit to coming to Him in prayer each and every day. When you do, bring Him your dreams and the desires of your heart. He will help set you along the path to bringing those dreams into reality. Remember, DREAM BIG, PRAY BIGGER!
