There’s a difference between knowing about God and actually knowing Him. Facts can inform you, but relationship transforms you.

You can grow up hearing Bible stories, attend church every week, and still feel distant from the One who created you. Why? Because truly knowing God doesn’t come through routine, it comes through relationship.

In Jeremiah 29:13, God says, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” That’s the key. Not halfway, or occasionally, but with your whole heart. Knowing God means pursuing Him, daily and deeply.

And like any relationship, closeness comes through time, honesty, and consistency. You talk to Him. You listen. You show up even on the days you don’t feel anything. Over time, you start to notice His voice more clearly. His Word speaks louder. His peace becomes familiar.

Knowing God starts with Jesus. He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Through Him, we see the character of God: His mercy, His power, and His compassion. Want to know what God is like? Just look at Jesus!

But it doesn’t stop at belief. It grows through surrender. The more space you give Him in your life, your time, your attention, and your desires, the more room He has to reveal Himself to you.

There’s no formula. There’s no shortcut. Just like a friendship or a marriage, depth comes from showing up and staying present. Reading His Word not just for knowledge, but to hear His heart. Praying not just to ask, but to connect. Obeying not just out of duty, but because you love Him and trust His ways.

So, if you’ve been longing to know God more, take that step. Open the Bible. Whisper a prayer. Sit in the stillness. He’s closer than you think, and He’s ready to meet you there.
