This question has crossed every honest heart at some point. Am I really saved? What if I mess up too much? What if I didn’t say the right words or feel the right thing? Can I actually know I’m going to Heaven?
Yes, you can!
1 John 5:13 says, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” Not hope. Not guess. Know.
That assurance isn’t based on emotions, performance, or religious effort. It’s based on what Jesus already did. The Gospel is clear: we are saved by grace through faith, not by works, not by being perfect, and not by earning it (Ephesians 2:8–9). Salvation is a gift, and it begins the moment you place your trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior.
That means admitting your need for Him, believing that He died and rose again for your sin, and choosing to follow Him with your life. When that happens, you’re not working for salvation, you’re living from it. Yes, you’ll still have flaws. You’ll still wrestle with sin. But your security is tied to Jesus.
If you’re unsure, take a moment to be still and talk to God. Confess your need and invite Jesus in. There’s no magic formula, just a surrendered heart. And once you’ve made that decision, you can walk in the freedom of knowing your eternity is secure, not because of your grip on God, but because of His grip on you.
You don’t have to wonder anymore. He didn’t save you to keep you guessing, He saved you to bring you home.
