We were built for relationships. We thrive off of healthy and encouraging interactions with others. We all have our own unique personalities and perspectives that help us to enrich each other’s lives. This is God’s design, and it reflects His own personal nature. We were made in His image, after all!
Yet sadly, we live in a dark and troubled world. Since sin entered the world, challenges have plagued relationships among people throughout history. Trust, love, and unity are broken every day by people caught in the grasp of sin who are not living out their end of a Godly relationship. It is the cause of so much trouble and heartbreak in this world. It’s a tragedy on every level.
While it may feel as if there’s no one who you have a guarantee will never abandon you, that’s not true. God will never abandon you! God’s word is clear about this. In Isaiah 41:9-10 he says: “I have chosen you and will not throw you away. Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand” (NLT).
We can trust God at His word. He is faithful, loving, and righteous. He NEVER goes against His word or leaves a promise unfulfilled. While it may seem as if there’s no place our heart can truly rest, we can be assured there is. We can place our full trust and confidence in God’s love. We can rest in His loving arms and know that our heart is safe there.
Then we will be strengthened in His love, being able to extend the love of Jesus love to others and allow Him to change hearts one person at a time. With the Holy Spirit as our partner, we can restore God’s design for relationships in this world. With Jesus, all things are possible. His love can soften even the hardest of hearts. But it all starts with us, here and now, resting in God’s love and power.
One of the last things Jesus said to us before he ascended into heaven is found in Matthew 28:20 where He says, “I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.” (Amplified Bible)
We can be confident in Him because He will NEVER abandon us!
