Somewhere along the way, many believers were taught that asking God hard questions meant having weak faith. Maybe you’ve felt the guilt creep in after whispering, “Why, God?” or “Where were You?” But Scripture tells a different story.

God never rebuked Job for asking why. He didn’t silence David for pouring out his anguish in the Psalms. These were men after God’s own heart, and they asked deep, raw, even painful questions.

Psalm 13:1 says, “How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?” That’s honest, unfiltered pain, and God didn’t reject it. He made it part of His Word.

Questioning God is part of being in relationship with Him. You don’t question someone you’ve given up on. You question the One you still believe is listening. Asking “why” or “how” or “when” is part of walking with the real, living God.

What matters is the posture of your heart. Are you asking from a place of bitterness and pride, or a desire to understand and draw near? God can handle your emotions. He created them. What He wants is your honesty, your vulnerability, and your voice.

Faith isn’t pretending everything is okay. Faith is trusting God enough to bring your confusion to Him. It’s believing that even when you don’t get the answers, He’s still good.

He may not explain every detail. He may not respond the way you expect. But He will meet you. Sometimes He answers with clarity. Other times with peace. And sometimes, with silence that stretches you into deeper trust.

So don’t be afraid to ask. You’re not too much for Him. Your questions don’t scare Him, they invite Him into the deepest parts of you.

And that’s exactly where He wants to be.
