You want to serve. You want to make a difference. But sometimes it’s hard to know howyou’re wired to do that. What’s your role in the body of Christ? What are your gifts, and how do you even figure that out?

1 Corinthians 12:4–6 says, “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.” God doesn’t make copy-and-paste Christians. He equips each person uniquely for the good of the whole.

So, how do you discover your gifts?

Start with your passions. What are the things that stir your heart? Are you drawn to encouraging people? Teaching? Helping behind the scenes? Often, your gifts are connected to what naturally brings you joy when you’re serving others.

Then look at your fruit. What do others affirm in you? Where have you seen God use you in ways that went beyond your own strength or comfort zone? Maybe people open up to you easily, or maybe you bring peace into tense situations. Those are signs of how God has gifted you.

Don’t get discouraged if it’s not immediately clear. Spiritual gifts are often discovered in motion. As you serve, as you try new things, as you step into places that stretch you, God begins to reveal more.

And remember: your gifts may shift and grow over time. What matters is staying connected to the Giver. Ask Him. He’s not hiding this from you. He wants you to walk in the purpose He’s designed for you.

You don’t have to figure it all out today. Just be faithful with what’s in front of you. Say yes when He nudges you. The more you walk with Him, the more your gifts will make sense, not just to you, but also to the people you’re called to serve.
