For those of you that have decided to live a Godly life, I’m sure you have not always found it easy. There are challenges and difficulties that come our way, for some more than others. I spoke to someone this week who said, “I have been a Christian for many years. There are times where things are going well until I try to take over”.
As a Christ-Follower that can be very problematic. Looking at your life through a spiritual lens, you need to “Give Up” before you can be “Raised Up”. For the best result we must empty ourselves of ourselves. Put our full faith and confidence in our Creator God. In some cases, there is nothing we can do but wait for God to step into our situation and rescue us.
A friend of mine who spent summers as a lifeguard once told me, depending on the specific situation they may allow the person to struggle and flail until they reach a point of exhaustion. Then they can bring the person to safety.
3 “You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.” (Matthew 5:3, Message Bible)
Even when it seems you reached the end of your rope, God is there to catch you. And in every circumstance, He is working things for your good, even when we may not understand, or even like, how He is doing it.
28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. (Romans 8:28, ESV)
God knows that sometimes we may need to go through difficult seasons, so we come face-to-face with the reality of our weakness. Our culture tells us weakness is a negative trait. Not an appealing or attractive quality. Here is what God says about it.
9 “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV)
Walk with God, trust Him more and more in every circumstance of your life. You will find that our all-powerful Creator God will show up and come to our rescue, as we abandon our efforts to save ourselves.
