Jesus’ life was a powerful testament to service. He famously declared in Mark 10:45, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” This statement challenges us to rethink our approach to life and leadership, emphasizing the importance of serving others.

Following Jesus’ example means letting go of our ego and desires, making room for God’s work in and through us. In John 3:30, we are reminded, “He must become greater; I must become less.” This mindset shifts our focus from self to God, allowing His will to take precedence in our lives.

One of the most profound examples of Jesus’ service is found in John 13:4-5, where He washes His disciples’ feet. “He poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.” (V5) This act of humility and love vividly illustrates His teaching. Serving others without seeking recognition or reward follows in His footsteps and demonstrates true humility.

Colossians 3:23-24 reminds us to direct our service toward pleasing God, not seeking approval or praise from others: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” This perspective helps us avoid the trap of pride and comparison, keeping our hearts focused on God’s purpose.

Embracing the call to serve like Jesus involves focusing on the needs of others and submitting to God’s will. This path brings joy and fulfillment, leading to a life of genuine love and humility. When we serve like Jesus, we reflect His character and bring His love to those around us.

Serving like Jesus means putting others first, acting with humility, and seeking to honor God in all we do. This service is not for show but stems from a sincere desire to follow Jesus’ example and make a difference in the lives of others.

Let’s commit to serving with a heart like Jesus, remembering that true greatness comes from humble service and a willingness to put others before ourselves. By doing so, we grow closer to God and inspire those around us to do the same.
