If the Gospel is true, then everything about life, death, and eternity hinges on it. But how can we be sure that it’s true?

One of the strongest pieces of evidence for the truth of the Gospel is the fulfillment of prophecies written hundreds of years before Jesus was born. Micah 5:2 prophesied His birthplace: “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.”

Psalm 22:16-18 described crucifixion long before it was even invented: “Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my hands and my feet. All my bones are on display; people stare and gloat over me. They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.”

Beyond prophecy, there were eyewitnesses to Jesus’ resurrection. 1 Corinthians 15:5-8 tells us, “He appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.”

Even non-Christian historians like Tacitus and Josephus recorded the existence

of Jesus and the impact of His followers. And the greatest evidence of all? Lives changed by Jesus. All over the world, people who were lost in sin have been set free, transformed, and given new life.

From the Apostle Paul, who went from persecuting Christians to becoming one of the most influential proponents of Christianity, to contemporary stories of addicts finding freedom, broken families being restored, and those in despair finding hope, these are not mere coincidences. They are living testimonies to the power of the Gospel, as described in 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Those stories of change are powerful testimonies of the reality of the power of the Gospel.
