There’s a remarkable truth at the center of our faith: God desires to have a personal, intimate relationship with YOU! That’s right, God longs to be a key part of your every day. He doesn’t want to merely sit on the sidelines, watching your life go by. He wants to be right by your side through the thick and thin of life.

Just look at Jesus’ words in Revelation 3:20: “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends” (NLT). Think about who you share meals with. It’s typically the people you are closest to in life: your spouse, family, and friends. Meals are intimate times of relationship!

So many people have fallen away from the faith because they cannot connect with the tired traditions of religion. That’s because so many of us grew up practicing those traditions never being told about the potential for a personal relationship with God! The beautiful bond we are supposed to enjoy with our Creator has been buried under aged religion.

Jesus stands at our door, seeking to come in and spend time with us. He wants to converse with us; He desires to sit down and eat with us; He longs to take up permanent residence in our hearts.

If faith is losing its luster in your eyes because you no longer resonate with the tired ways of religion, look instead towards a personal relationship with God. Pray and ask that He would open your eyes to His presence beside you and overwhelm you with His love.

Invite Him into your life, and you will begin a beautiful journey living your best life alongside your Savior and your friend, Jesus.
