Jesus’ love is the cornerstone of His teachings and actions. In Matthew 9:36, we see His compassionate heart in action: “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.” This selfless love drives us to care deeply for those around us.

In John 13:34, Jesus challenges us with the Great Commandment: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” This call to love sacrificially is rooted in God’s love for us, as seen in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son.”

Loving even when it’s tough, as Jesus taught in Luke 6:32-33, 35, involves loving our enemies. His act of washing Judas’ feet, knowing Judas would betray Him, shows the depth and breadth of His love (John 13:4-5).

True love, as James 2:8-9 reminds us, remains impartial and inclusive. Jesus doesn’t play favorites.“Love your neighbor as yourself. But if you favor some people over others, you are committing a sin. You are guilty of breaking the law.” This kind of love transforms both us and those we love. We need to reflect that love to everyone we come in contact with every day. That’s how we spread the love of Christ and are God’s ambassadors in this world.

Loving like Jesus means being genuinely present and caring for others. It means extending kindness and compassion to everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances. This kind of love requires action and commitment. We need to ask God to change our hearts and minds so that we can live a life that reflects His love in every way.

When we follow Jesus’ example of love, we create a ripple effect that impacts the lives of those around us. Our actions speak louder than words, and our love becomes a testament to our faith. As we practice this love daily, we grow closer to God and become more like Jesus in our hearts and actions.
